OUR NEW JUMBO BOARD IN ADMIRATION OF THE QUEEN OF THE SKIES
When we embarked on our massive new board project- the largest we have ever made measuring 600 x 400 x 70mm and incorporating new timbers such as Huon Pine and Golden Wattle, we decided to call it JUMBO.
On July 20 Qantas’ last Boeing 747 left Australia for retirement in the Mojave Desert so in recognition of that flight and by way of paying tribute to this iconic plane we have engraved a 747 on the top left-hand corner of each board. Known as the” Queen of the Skies” and “The Pilots Friend” she brought the world together by offering affordable global travel, a true icon.

Big Chop is proudly Tasmanian. We source premium timber from responsibly harvested Australian species. Our skilled artisans use these woods to handcraft superb chopping boards that harness the natural beauty of the woods – no two boards are the same. This is the largest board we have ever produced and is a massive 60 x 40 x 7cm thick and would be ideal for commercial or heavy-duty domestic use.
This Jumbo board is made from 3 iconic Tasmanian timbers:
- Golden Wattle (A new timber for Big Chop)
- Huon Pine (An iconic Tasmanian timber)
Big Chop Boards make a beautiful feature in any kitchen. With the timeless beauty of natural timber and high quality construction, and if the board is cared for, it is sure to become a future family heirloom.
